I start with
everything set to default : linear for film curve and the multigrade
settings
( based on Ilford's b&w paper technique ) . Following , I
turn on the filter and adjust it to get the best values for a given
image . This action can be compared to the Channel Mixer but the
red+green+blue values are always kept equal to 100 . The next step is to
play with the curve sliders which do adapt the gamma curve for each of
the 6 colors channels . This software allows an extended control on
converting digital files into well balanced b&w images . Final step
is to use the exposure and multigrade controls to adjust contrast and
tonality to each of your files . A bonus is the possibility to add a
tone in the sepia and blue range . Since I discovered this very
elaborated tool , it has become my exclusive and unique b&w
converter .
