Spring at the Japanese Garden |

This Japanese garden is the result of the friendship between the towns Itami ( Japan ) and Hasselt ( Belgium ) since 1985 . Both towns wanted to symbolize this by showing the presence of their specific culture in the sister town . In November 1991 , Hasselt offered a carillon ( chime of bells ) to Itami which , in return , contributed largerly to the creation of this Japanese garden |
