G1 and telescope for moon shots
Here's what Erick says about the equipment he uses :
The telescope is a Televue Pronto , hyper compact but half-apochromatic . Info about this lens can be found here: http://astronomy-mall.com/regular/products/tele-vue-optics/index.html
For groundspotting it's superior to the spotting scopes of Leica , Swarowsky or Kowa . Unfortunately , it's not made for
trekking conditions as it's not waterproof and is heavy despite its compactness .
On the other hand , it can be adapted to all optics and accessories of the astronomical market . The diameter of 2" is exceptional for this size .
It opens at f6.8 for a focal length of 480mm and a lens diameter of 70mm .
It can be coupled to any SLR with a photo adapter , which cannot be used with the G1 . For this , he lets the eyepiece in place ,
puts his G1 on it , zooms out to the maximum ( to avoid vignetting ) with the advantage to multiply the focal lenghts together .
Enormous power but less sharpness than with an SLR .
He focuses to infinity and exposes at +/- 1/8 second for the moon .
